Hell’s Paradise (Jigokuraku) Hikkake Figures (Gabimaru, Sagiri, Yuzuriha) Review
Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! This is my figure collecting blogging space. I hope that you will find this website super fun and useful. I do reviews on new anime figures coming out almost every day, but I also share photos of my very own collection. Although my blog is titled “Our Nendoroid Family” I branch out and cover a wide variety of anime merchandise news. If you have any suggestions like figures you’d like me to cover, or a series you want more content for, please let me know! I wish to host a fun blog for everyone! If you’re interested in starting the hobby, this is a great place to learn about many models as well.
Recently, I’ve been super into an anime called Jigokuraku or Hell’s Paradise. The anime is currently airing; and I own several volumes of the manga. If you’ve read my blog before, you might know that the Hikkake line of figures is one of my favorites! Hikkake figures are made by Furyu. They feature many popular characters in a laying down position. They each come with their own themed blocks that they can rest atop of. The fun thing about them is that you can put them in plenty of places! Even on your hand or shoulder. Hikkake models are done in a chibi style and are very cute. They can be obtained at bookstores, comic stores, and anime stores. If you are interested in buying these, I recommend you shop around and look for the best price. Hikkake are sold at various prices so don’t pay more than 28$ for one.
Hikkake are usually released in sets of three. The first set includes: Gabimaru, Sagiri, and Yuzuriha. I want to cover these three individually. They are up for preorder online currently, and will release in October 2023.
Yuji Kaku Sensei’s “Hell’s Paradise” or “Jigokuraku” is a manga series and as of April 2023, an anime as well. It is known as one of the so called “Dark Trio” along with Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. The story follows a ninja by the name of Gabimaru. Once known infamously as “Gabimaru the Hollow”. He is accused of committing crimes and sent to be executed. However, the desire to reunite with his wife again drives him to stay alive and fight through what would normally kill a person. Then he meets the executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, a woman who feels regret and his haunted by those she’s slain. In order for him to be pardoned, she allows Gabimaru to depart on a trip to a mysterious island. If he can find the elixir of life that is rumored to be there, he will be set free. But is this island actually paradise or hell?
Gabimaru’s Hikkake figure. For the Hell’s Paradise Hikkake figures, they use the kanji for Jigokuraku in a traditional font for the symbol. This is neat; it’s different from the usual design! Gabimaru works great as a Hikkake. His chill, laid back, sort of aloof face is done so well!
It surprises me that they chose purple as his signature color. I thought it would be dark green.
As you can tell, the Hikkake figures lay down at an angle where they can be display on the edges of shelves and blocks.
His sandles are cute aren’t they? For some reason, I like the tiny feat.
They posed him with one foot upward a little.
His ninja garb is captured well.
I love how he looks like he’s just barely holding on.
Gabimaru’s yellow eyes do go well with the purple though.
Sagiri’s Hikkake figure. They chose a cool blueish white for her block. I like this choice! Her face appears very serious.
Again, we have Jigokuraku written in kanji on the front of the block. Since they chose the series title instead of their names, it makes them match nicely. You could also swap out the colored blocks between figures as well.
I love the color of her hair. It feels vibrant compared to the traditional black.
Sagiri has a nice bright red and white color scheme.
This Hikkake seems to stay true to her character.
Even her sword makes it into her model.
It might look like her hair can spit so that you can change out the face, but Hikkake don’t do this. The line between her hair and face is simply there spot where the prices are attached together.
Her brown eyes give her a warm appearance despite her serious expression.
Yuzuriha’s Hikkake figure. Yuzuriha is quite the eye catcher! With her purple hair and pink block, she is guaranteed to be noticed. This is the kind of figure that your eyes will zip to when you look at your cabinet. The hot pink was a bold choice, but I think it suites her amazingly.
She is a lot to look at though. Yuzuriha wears a crazed expression here too! Her face is very happy and excitable. Which is a strange contrast compared to the other two.
She has a cool ponytail.
Yuzuriha is a kunoichi, and she includes many of her weapons like in the show. *A female ninja*
She looks wild from the back view as well.
I didn’t notice the charm in her hair until now!
Her color scheme is brighter than the others.
Her cheerful face is cute! Her eyes are pink and purple too.
My conclusion to this review is that I think the new Hell’s Paradise Hikkake figures are definitely worth getting! The design on them looks great, and I enjoy the style of their blocks as well. The advantage to collecting Hikkake figures is that they are much more affordable than some others. And they’ve been easily available in the United States! The Jigokuraku models won’t release until October 2023, but there are Demon Slayer, Hunter X Hunter, and Jujutsu Kaisen Hikkake figures that you can collect until then. If you are interested in the Hell’s Paradise figures, you can preorder them online. My recommendation is the Crunchyroll store, or any reliable anime online shop you trust. These will probably be available in bookstores when they come out. >~< I will be sure to get some.
This was the first set. The other sets have already been announced, and I’ll be covering them in the coming days.
