Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Hiru Neko Review (Satoru, Suguru, Toji)
Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! Is everyone excited for the next season of Jujutsu Kaisen? I know I am! It feels like I’ve been waiting years for this. And it feels strange now that we’re so close to it’s release. My favorite ark, the hidden inventory ark will be featured this season. I don’t want to spoil much for anyone; but as a manga reader I know that there are many cool characters in the ark. Of course, we get to see Satoru and Suguru as students, but there are plenty of new personalities too! I can’t wait to see them all animated!
I get a lot of news for anime figures coming out of Japan. Recently I’ve been looking at a lot of new JJK merchandise, and I noticed these. The Hiru Neko series will be getting it’s third collection for Jujutsu Kaisen! The first series contained Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara. The second one contained Satoru, Nanami, and Geto. In Hiru Neko packs you receive only one of the mini figures at random.
The Hiru Neko series are a collection of mini figures made by SEGA. They feature popular anime characters sleeping with cat like features. They are rather cute. Hiru Nekos are small, still collectibles. By the way, Hiru Neko means “Napping Cat” in English. Taking the first part from the stem of “hirune suru” and the adding the word for cat “neko”.
If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend you read my unboxing of one of the Demon Slayer Hiru Nekos since that post has my first impressions of them in it. (Link included at the bottom of this page.) Honestly, I love how cute the Hiru Nekos are, but I had a few problems with them. I bought mine for 26$ which I thought was extremely overpriced for it. I wish to pay 8–15$ for a figure of this size. The detail and paint job is nice, but still I’ve seen similar models for cheaper. Another thing is that the box is much larger than the figure. I should mention this because it makes the model seem much larger. In reality, Hiru Neko’s are very small and can fit in the palm of your hand. The box made me think it was larger which was a little disappointing. However I do really enjoy the design of the figure!
And lastly, with all of these problems in mind, it bothers me a little that the figures are random because to get the ones I want, I will have to purchase multiple copies at the expensive price. And then there’s a possibility to get doubles as well. I wish there was a better price for them somewhere. If anyone knows a better way to buy these I’d appreciate it so much if you told me in the comments. >~< I bought my Uzui Hiru Neko at Barnes and Noble.
That being said, I want to take a look at and review the new JJK season 2 Hiru Neko collection! I haven’t found much information about them on the internet at all, so I hope this post will be helpful to you! 🎶
In this volume Satoru, Suguru, and Toji are featured in sleeping cat form. The work to capture the “cat taking a nap” feels really accurate.
These are so cute….>-<zz
It’s really nice to see more merchandise for hidden inventory. Satoru and Suguru have already been featured as Hiru Nekos before. While on the other hand, the Toji one is brand new. Satoru’s other model features him as a teacher, while this one shows him as a student. The main difference is the old one wears a blindfold, while the new Satoru wears glasses instead. As for Suguru, the differences are much more noticeable. The newer one has shorter hair, his outfit is different, and he doesn’t have the scar on his forehead like he does in the first season. It would be cool to see Riko, Nanami, and Haibara in the future. I want to show each mini figure individually too!
Satoru Gojo as a Hiru Neko mini figure. I’m interested to know if people like the glasses on him, or would they rather be able to see his face better? You can spot his closed eyes peeking out a bit. The Satoru Hiru Neko is nice and has a lot of personality.
Suguru Geto as a Hiru Neko mini figure. I love his blushing face! He looks very calm and content as a sleeping cat doesn’t he? I couldn’t notice this on the other one but you can see that he has a tail. It seems like all the Hiru Neko’s have thinner tails. What really surprised me was the fact that they still gave him his earrings despite him having cat ears! This was a nice attention to detail.
Toji Fushiguro as a Hiru Neko mini figure. He may be the bad guy of the hidden inventory ark, but he’s immensely popular among fans. We haven’t seen a lot of his merch just yet, so it’s very exciting to be getting him in Hiru Neko form! I have to say, Toji is not suited to being cute. He’s just not that kind of guy. I just think that he is a very difficult choice. Although, I do think they mastered the details on him quite well! I still get that you could say “manly” vibe from him. Notice how unlike most of the charaters, he doesn’t have any sleeves? I like how they focused on his arms like that. And overall his hair and everything looks very much like Toji. I do think they should have played with the face a bit more. I know all the figures in this line have that face. But I don’t picture Toji sleeping peacefully as a cat very often. I think the best expression to bring out his character would be maybe a grumpy sleeping face? I wish they would have played with it a little more.
I’m not sure when they are set to release. I believe it’s sometime this Summer or Fall. Maybe we can see them in bookstores someday. I love these three and I’d like to have them. I might consider getting a few if they become available to me. These come in random packs, so you aren’t really sure who you’re buying when you purchase them. I wonder if I can find these for a better price anywhere? Either way, I’m so happy to review these new models for hidden inventory! This is a great year as far as anime goes. At least for me anyway. >~<
