Hell’s Pardadise (Jigokuraku) Figuarts Review

Hello everyone! I was reading an anime blog called “AnimeAnime!” in Japanese the other day, and I came across these so I decided to make my very own blog post about them! Yes, we are getting some figures from Hell’s Paradise or Jigokuraku; made by Figuarts. I enjoy Figuarts collectibles and sometimes they are much easier to obtain outside of Japan than some of the other brands. For those who don’t know much about the series, I’ll write a description for it!

Yuji Kaku Sensei’s “Hell’s Paradise” or “Jigokuraku” is a manga series and as of April 2023, an anime as well. It is known as one of the so called “Dark Trio” along with Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. The story follows a ninja by the name of Gabimaru. Once known infamously as “Gabimaru the Hollow”. He is accused of committing crimes and sent to be executed. However, the desire to reunite with his wife again drives him to stay alive and fight through what would normally kill a person. Then he meets the executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, a woman who feels regret and his haunted by those she’s slain. In order for him to be pardoned, she allows Gabimaru to depart on a trip to a mysterious island. If he can find the elixir of life that is rumored to be there, he will be set free. But is this island actually paradise or hell?

The Hell’s Paradise anime is awesome, so if you have time you should check it out! >~< 🎶 This is one of my favorite series these days.

Today I’ll be reviewing the new Figuarts and Figuarts minis for it.

We will start with Figuarts Gabimaru! Gabimaru the hollow has been recreated in action figure form! I’ll be honest, I prefer display figures over action figures; but the Jigokuraku ones look so cool! I really like the color choice for his ninja garb. Using dark green works much better than solid black. The detail is pretty good too.

The advantage to action figures is that they can be played with. Rather than the figures that still have interchangeable parts, but are made solely for display. For example my nendoroids have swapping parts, but I wouldn’t be rough with them. On the other hand, these are made to be played with and thus, are quite hardy compared to other models. It’s cool how Gabimaru comes with a good mixture of faces and poses.

We also have a Figuarts for Yamada Asaemon Sagiri! Sagiri does show weakness at times, but I think she has an overall strong aura and is one of my favorite female characters in anime. Throughout the show she is known for having the strength of a man but the compassion of a woman. Sagiri is recreated well in Figuarts form! Again, I really enjoy the colors used. Whoever is painting these is doing a really good job!

She also comes with a good variety of faces. The(-~-) one is funny isn’t it?

Now I want to show the Gabimaru Figuarts Mini! 🎶 These are similar to nendoroids but cheaper and smaller. I have some of them from Jujutsu Kaisen. I’d love to add the Hell’s Paradise duo to my cabinet too someday! >~< Gabimaru works nicely as a Figuarts Mini in my opinion. They chose a laid back yet serious face for him.

He has plenty of mobility, but not as much as the action figures we were looking at before. And so far Gabimaru’s Figuarts Mini only comes with this expression.

As you might have expected, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri makes her way into the Figuarts Mini collection as well! She looks really tall for some reason. It seems they chose a more serious expression for her too.

I think her combat pose turned out a lot better because she comes wielding a weapon! The detail is good on the mini figures too.

The action figure line is called SH Figuarts and their chibis are called Figuarts Mini.

I can’t wait for these to come out! I’m trying my best to research anime merchandise so that I can stay informed. I wish to be knowledgeable about all these kinds of things. If you enjoy the book or the show, I highly recommend getting these for your collection! Whether you prefer the highly movable SH Figuarts or the cuter Figuarts Minis is up to you. Figuarts models are usually priced well. Most of them are more affordable than similar brands. The hard part is obtaining them. Many of these kinds of merchandise is only available in Japan for an extended period. Those who would like these early will have to purchase them from a reliable international store. The good news is that, bookstores in America have recently been stocking many of the Figuarts collectibles! Including the SH Figuarts and Figuarts Minis. I’ve seen them at Books A Millions, Barnes and Nobles and even the Kinokuniya stores. Although they are hard to find, Kinokuniya had a huge variety of these last time I went. I’m crossing my fingers that the Hell’s Paradise merchandise will be available in bookstores too. Until then, I will be covering more Jigokuraku figure content; tomorrow as well!
