Shoko Ieiri is Getting a Nendoroid!
Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! I’m just your average blogger who’s obsessed and overly excited about nendoroids! Plus, I’m a bit of an anime enthusiast. Thank you for supporting me here on my blog! I have a YouTube channel too, so please check that out later as well. And thanks to everyone for checking out my website!
I’m such a huge fan of Jujutsu Kaisen; I’ve collected many figures from the series, and I always review the new nendoroids as they come out. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen or JJK, is currently still airing and it’s definitely been an enjoyable show. I would absolutely recommend watching it if you haven’t seen it. As a manga reader, it’s heartwarming to see all the characters animated. Especially since Hidden Inventory is my favorite ark. Hidden Inventory takes us back to the protagonist’s teacher, Satoru Gojo’s days as a student at Jujutsu High. Along with his friend Suguru Geto, he attempts to save the ‘Star Plasma Vessel’ from her devastating fate of being merged with Tengen.
Following Hidden Inventory, Premature Death is a short storyline about Suguru Geto’s decision to abandon the ways of Jujutsu High. But throughout the story ark where you see Satoru’s immense fight with Toji, Geto’s array of curses, or the scenes where they have fun in Okinawa, there is one character who is often overlooked but truly important. That’s right, Shoko Ieiri. She’s a classmate alongside Satoru and Suguru and her specialty is reversed cursed technique the ability to heal others. Shoko may not fight on the front lines against curses, but she’ll always be meaningful to the sorcerers because of the aid she provides between these battles. Shoko may get little screen time, but she’s actually quite popular among fans; so I’m quite excited to be reviewing her nendoroid today!
Jujutsu Kaisen “Sorcery Fight” is a massive hit manga and anime series by Gege Akutami. It has 2 seasons and a special movie for it’s prequel series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The story follows a boy named Itadori Yuji, who eats a mysterious finger belonging to the ancient curse Ryomen Sukuna. After eating it, it turns out he is the perfect vessel; and he must collect and eat all the other fingers before his execution. Jujutsu Kaisen focuses on a vast cast of students at the Jujutsu Technical high school. The story has some great characters, but in a dark world filled with curses and no mercy, it’s never good to get too attached.
Shoko Ieiri’s nendoroid was announced on the Good Smile company’s twitter before any photos of her figure were released. The illustration above serves as a template for designing her nendoroid figure.
Before we take a look at the finished figure, I’d like to mention a post that I did a while back explain which Jujutsu Kaisen characters I thought deserved nendoroids. I added ideas for what each character would include if they did become nendos as well. Funny, the day after I wrote that post, some of my predictions came true. meaning although my post became instantly outdated, at least my intuition was on point. So here’s what a wrote about Shoko! I must say I’m truly happy she’s actually becoming a nendoroid now!
“Shoko feels like a must for a nendoroid to me. She’s one of the most underestimated characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. Although Shoko’s adult version might be more well known, I think her younger appearance from her school days would be the ideal choice for the nendo. We have Satoru and Suguru Jujutsu high versions, I feel like we really need Shoko. She would be amazing to have alongside them. Ieri might would be a bit of a smaller nendoroid, due to her lack of screen time. I doubt she includes any kinds of combat parts. I think Shoko would include a smiling face with her cigarette, a sad faceplate, and maybe a happy expression with her eyes closed. Introducing her to nendoroids means that we’d get another girl too! Riko is shown more in the anime, but I see Shoko more often in merchandise. As far as Hidden Inventory girls go, Kuroi would be a good choice too. But Shoko seems like the most obvious option. She looks a lot like Nobara in her younger days, so I think she’ll transfer to figure form easily.”
Wow, she’s cute as a nendo isn’t she? I love the highlighting on her hair. Her first faceplate is her content smile. Shoko stays level-headed and they did a good job of making her figure seem quite collected!
Next, we have her relieved face with closed eyes. She also includes her scalpel. I didn’t think about how she could come it’s that before; this nendoroid is way better than I had anticipated! Ieiri comes with an interchangeable piece with her leg off the ground too.
Ooh I love this expression! This is for when she’s explaining her technique to Satoru and Suguru, only to confuse them. So far I think this is the best of her poses we’ve seen yet.
Just like with Satoru and Suguru’s Tokyo Jujutsu High nendoroids; Shoko comes with hand parts for holding her phone! It would be so cute to make a serene where the three of them are on the phone with each other.
And lastly, her hand part for waving goodbye.
After seeing these photos, I have one critique for her. Shoko, who smokes predominantly through the show, does not come with her cigarette at all? I’m honestly shocked that none of her hand parts or face parts include it since she really does smoke a lot in the show. It’s a little strange how this detail is absent, but it’s not a huge deal.
And she comes with a special base just for her! Shoko’s base shows her scalpel and her hairstyle. I love the clear bases; they’re so cool.
Nendoroid Shoko Ieiri: Tokyo jujutsu High Ver will release sometime around May 2024. She is currently on preorder on the Good Smile Online Shop, and the Good Smile US store. So, those living in the US and Canada can preorder her there. And then, those living in other countries can go ahead and preorder her on the international website.
In conclusion, I’m really happy with Shoko’s new nendo! Even though the fact that she doesn’t have her cigarette with her at all is pretty puzzling to me. But I do think that the nendoroid figure turned out a lot cooler than I had imagined. I would recommend getting her if you are going to be getting Satoru and Suguru’s new versions. I can’t wait to get the three of them someday! Let me know if you’l be buying her in the comments! I know I will!
