Hell’s Paradise (Jigokuraku) Hikkake Figures (Chobe, Toma) Review

Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! This is my figure collecting blogging space. I hope that you will find this website super fun and useful. I do reviews on new anime figures coming out almost every day, but I also share photos of my very own collection. Although my blog is titled “Our Nendoroid Family” I branch out and cover a wide variety of anime merchandise news. If you have any suggestions like figures you’d like me to cover, or a series you want more content for, please let me know! I wish to host a fun blog for everyone! If you’re interested in starting the hobby, this is a great place to learn about many models as well.

Recently, I’ve been super into an anime called Jigokuraku or Hell’s Paradise. The anime is currently airing; and I own several volumes of the manga. If you’ve read my blog before, you might know that the Hikkake line of figures is one of my favorites! Hikkake figures are made by Furyu. They feature many popular characters in a laying down position. They each come with their own themed blocks that they can rest atop of. The fun thing about them is that you can put them in plenty of places! Even on your hand or shoulder. Hikkake models are done in a chibi style and are very cute. They can be obtained at bookstores, comic stores, and anime stores. If you are interested in buying these, I recommend you shop around and look for the best price. Hikkake are sold at various prices so don’t pay more than 28$ for one.

Hikkake figures come in sets. This is the third set. Normally we’d get three per set, but there’s no need for an extra in this one. That’s because the third set features the brothers, Aza Chobe and Aza Toma! This two seems like interesting characters, so I’m excited to see what will happens to them as the story goes on. I want to cover these two individually as well!

Yuji Kaku Sensei’s “Hell’s Paradise” or “Jigokuraku” is a manga series and as of April 2023, an anime as well. It is known as one of the so called “Dark Trio” along with Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. The story follows a ninja by the name of Gabimaru. Once known infamously as “Gabimaru the Hollow”. He is accused of committing crimes and sent to be executed. However, the desire to reunite with his wife again drives him to stay alive and fight through what would normally kill a person. Then he meets the executioner, Yamada Asaemon Sagiri, a woman who feels regret and his haunted by those she’s slain. In order for him to be pardoned, she allows Gabimaru to depart on a trip to a mysterious island. If he can find the elixir of life that is rumored to be there, he will be set free. But is this island actually paradise or hell?

Aza Chobe’s new Hikkake figure. Chobe makes a really cool Hikkake! he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would convert to the chibi style well, but I actually think he does. If you noticed, you’ve seen that for the Hell’s Paradise Hikkake, they use Jigokuraku spelled in kanji instead of character icons. I like this feature a lot because now we can swap around their blocks!

This is a standard pose for Chobe. This barn red colored block works good with him. It’s a little darker than Tenza’s block.

Chobe looks awesome from the back too. I love how you can tell his clothes are worn. Chobe is a pretty tough guy.

He even comes with his axe, which is a wicked detail! I’m the kind of person who enjoys the gruesome fight scenes the best… -_-

Yamada Asaemon Toma’s new Hikkake figure. Toma is cute isn’t he? When I first read his early scenes in the manga, I thought he was a girl. Until Chobe called him “younger brother” and then I was like “aah sorry Toma!” -_- I didn’t have this problem in the anime because he has a boyish voice. Toma’s Hikkake is very joyful.

Toma’s overall color scheme is easy to look at. I’m a big fan of the light blue block!

It’s very nice of him to become an executioner for his brothers sake. After all, he joined the Yamada Asaemon clan so that he could save his brother from torture.

Toma’s hair is pretty…I like that maroon color.

My conclusion to this review is that I think the new Hell’s Paradise Hikkake figures are definitely worth getting! The design on them looks great, and I enjoy the style of their blocks as well. The advantage to collecting Hikkake figures is that they are much more affordable than some others. And they’ve been easily available in the United States! This set will release in November 2023, but there are Demon Slayer, Hunter X Hunter, and Jujutsu Kaisen Hikkake figures that you can collect until then. If you are interested in the Hell’s Paradise figures, you can preorder them online. My recommendation is the Crunchyroll store, or any reliable anime online shop you trust. These will probably be available in bookstores when they come out. >~< I will be sure to get some.

The third set will release in November 2023, a little after the initial release of the first characters.
