Nendoroid Ubel Review

Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! I’m so glad you found my blog! I love to talk about upcoming anime figures and merchandise and share photos of my own collection. Nendoroids are my favorite, but I cover a wide variety of anime related subjects. Plus, I have a YouTube channel too, so feel free to check it out sometime! And thank you so much for tuning in; have fun reading!

Ubel is one of the most popular characters in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. She was introduced in the first-class mage exam arc, and I’m sure she will continue to grow more likable as the series continues! Even though she’s known for being a wicked mage with no sense of righteousness, she serves as more of an ally to Fern in the first part of the exam. The Good Smile Company must have caught on to Ubel’s importance, because she will be joining the nendoroid series!

Ubel’s figure was first announced during SmileFest 2024. I had previously written a blog post featuring her nendoroid figure when she was just revealed, which is why I’m especially excited to be reviewing her today!

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe, which received its own anime adaptation in the autumn of 2023. The manga is published weekly in Shonen Sunday magazine. Despite being a fairly new story, Frieren is immensely popular both for its bright characters and dramatic plot line. The story follows Frieren, who comes back from a 10 year long adventure with Himmel the hero, Heiter the priest, and Eizen the warrior. Himmel’s party is celebrated for their triumph against the demon king. Although Himmel, Heiter, and Eizen speak of the adventure as though it was their last, Frieren can’t seem to understand them. After all, elves’ lifespans are much longer than most. And so, time goes by. Frieren eventually hears of Himmel’s passing, and decides that from here on out, she’ll strive to understand humans and appreciate her time with them. After she meets an orphan Heiter took in named Fern, and Eizen’s apprentice Stark, Frieren reembarks on the adventure that once ended.

Ubel, a third-class mage who’s quite malevolent in nature.

I love her staff; she looks wicked when she wields it! I’m a huge fan of Ubel’s sinister looking eyes. Her first faceplate is her smiling expression.

I would love to recreate her battle with Wirbel, so I hope the Good Smile Company will give him a Nendoroid someday. You might notice that Ubel’s nendoroid figure includes an extra leg part that’s bent upward. This piece is particularly useful for action poses!

Her next faceplate features her lust for combat! I was hoping she’d include an expression like this! Her uppercut pose is quite cool, isn’t it?

Oh, this is her curious expression! I was hoping that she’d include a face like this! Ubel’s prowess is fueled by her interest in others, and her vivid imagination, so it’s import for her to careful analyze the people around her. This pose reminds me of the scene where she circles Land, interrogating him.

Ubel seems to be insisting someone be quiet! I love the paint job on her hair; she looks amazing!

If you purchase Nendoroid Ubel from the Good Smile Company, you will receive her scissors as a bonus accessory! You can purchase her from the Good Smile Online shop, or the Good Smile US store. She is set to release in the second quarter of 2025.

In conclusion to this review, I’m pleased with how Ubel’s new nendoroid figure turned out! They did a wonderful job converting such an iconic character into a chibi figurine. I should also mention that I predicted all of her faces accurately when I first wrote about her, which makes me so happy!

Which Frieren characters are you interested in seeing as nendoroids someday? Personally, I’m hoping they add Wirbel to the series next.

Thank you so much for reading my article! See you next time!
