Nendoroid Akira Toya Review
Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! I’m a bit of an anime enthusiast. I collect various anime figures and merchandise! 🎶 Anime figures are my passion and I enjoy sharing photos of my own collection. But I also write reviews and show off new products coming out. I aim to create a fun blog for all “Nendo” fans!
Hilaru No Go is one of my favorite manga. I haven’t seen the anime yet, but I read the manga at nighttime quite often! I love the story and I think it’s super funny. Hikaru No Go is filled with strategic go moves; and as someone who didn’t know a thing about go before reading it, it was incredibly interesting learning about it.
Hikaru’s main rival is Akira Toya. Toya lost to Hikaru during their first fight. Little did he know that it was in fact Sai who beat Akira through Hikaru. But Akira swore to get his revenge, only to be disappointed in Hikaru’s ability.
Hikaru No Go is a manga and anime series written by Yumi Hotta and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It ran as a series in weekly Shonen Jump magazine, with 23 printed volumes. A young boy named Hikaru finds a mysterious old go board in the attic. But it turns out to be possessed by the spirit of an ancient go player; who laches on to Hikaru. The man’s name is Fujiwara No Sai. He dreams of becoming a go champion. But since he’s dead, Hikaru will need to do that for him.
Wow…The nendoroid looks just like Akira Toya! I always thought his hair was dark blue. Is this a manga thing? Even still, his eyes and hairstyle and very true to the character. I love his hand part for holding a go piece; it looks really cool. His serious face makes it seem like he’s ready for a match!
Although Toya is determined on the inside, he does have a kindhearted personality on the outside. He’s a very respectful kind of guy I think. I like this pose too.
Oh, he comes with the go board? 🎶 By the way, Good Smile’s Chinese Study B comes with a little go board too. The set is a room made for these nendoroid figures. I also love the mat he comes with. I’m curious if his legs are attached to the mat or not? When nendos come with sitting legs, I always use those pieces a lot! >~<
You can recreate his practicing scene!
Here is his upset, flustered face when he loses to Hikaru and Sai.
Hikaru and Akira playing go together. They look so serious, but also cute! These to would be so much fun to have. I’d love to create scenes from the manga…
Nendoroid Akira Toya will release in the first quarter of 2024. He is on preorder now. The Hikaru No Go nendoroids are available on the Good Smile site.
If you enjoy Hikaru No Go, I highly recommend a manga called Tenmaku Cinema! Written by Yuuto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. Tenmaku Cinema shares a common theme with Hikaru No Go; A young boy is processed by a spirit. But instead of playing go, the story is about making movies! Tenmaku Cinema takes what’s good about Hikaru No Go and puts it’s own spin on it.
As of now, you can read the story on the Shonen Jump app.
