Our Nendoroid Family Anniversary: Two Years Since I Got My First Nendoroid!
Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! In this post I want to reflect on how and why I started collecting nendoroids to begin with. Two years ago, I opened my first nendoroid, Osamu Dazai Airport version. When I first seen the Bungou Stray Dogs nendos on the internet, I knew I wanted them. I’m the kind of person who quickly gets obsessed with whatever they want. And naturally, I went to see if I could buy one a few days later. Little did I know how expensive they would be! At the time, I knew next to nothing about figures and I just assumed they would be a lot cheaper in general.
However, I still decided to buy one anyway. At the time, the airport versions were newer so they were a little cheaper. They weren’t in stock on the Good Smile store or anywhere for that matter. The only place to buy one was on EBay. And that’s when I learned about fake nendos. Supposedly they look normal but are flimsy or have discolored parts. Luckily, I decided on a Osamu Dazai Airport version that wasn’t fake. I’m really glad I bought him, because the EBay seller was really nice and included his special pouch. I honestly had no idea that he would come with this as it wasn’t listed on the product when I order him. That was so nice. And even though I order him from Japan, it only took him 8 days to come!
Those are some photos from June 12 2021, when I first purchased him. Sorry, my area didn’t look as good as it does now. Back then it was kinda boring.
I was so happy with my first purchase that I ordered Chuya a week later! I paid the same price for Chuya as well. My Chuya is the airport version too.
My first house for them is this small wooden one that came from a hobby shop. I put dog wallpaper in it; which goes good with the “Bungou Stray Dogs” don’t you agree? I remember staging them in all sorts of poses and even celebrating Osamu’s birthday in their house.
I also started sewing my own accessories for them. Since I didn’t have nendoroid dolls yet, all I could make clothes wise was ponchos for them. And then I made them both watermelon hats and sleeping bags.
Dazai and Chuya in their pouches when I went camping.
It wouldn’t be until August 17 2021 that I’d get my third nendoroid, Fushiguro Megumi. I ordered him from Solaris Japan, and the shipping was extremely high. It took him a long time to arrive too, but his condition and quality were pretty good. Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became one of my favorite series after binge reading the manga.
Again, sorry my old photos weren’t that great…
My fourth Nendoroid is Deidara from Naruto. I got this one from Chibi Chop Shop, which is now one of my favorite places to buy nendoroids and nendoroid parts. I opened him sometime around September 7 2021, but I don’t know the exact date.
I took Deidara camping soon after getting him! ✨✨
My fifth Nendoroid is Saber or Altaria Pendragon from Fate! I also ordered her from Chibi Chop Shop. I bought Saber differently than my other Nendoroids. Since there are so many Saber nendos, instead of buying one, I combined pieces from multiple different models. I chose my favorite faces for her. She has a smiling face, a fighting face, and a more curious face. I ended up getting her sword too, but I accidentally bought it without the sheath. Her armor is actually “customer modified” meaning the original owner had painted it a darker color. The original armor is a shiny grey, but I personally like the more realistic paint job better.
As you can see, my area is starting to look more like it does now. My next nendoroid would be the Cleaning Levi. Levi from Attack on Titan has a special cleaning version that was only available at anime conventions in 2014. I find the nendoroid funny, and I really wanted it. I searched on the internet vigorously, but I had no luck finding it for sale on any websites. During my search, I did come across some funny pages though! As you can guess, my next option is EBay. Most of the Levis listed were being sold for outrageous prices; makes sense considering how rare he is. I ended participating in a bid to try to snatch him for a cheaper price. Unfortunately, I lost the bid. The only other ones on there were super high at the time. So I ended up settling on one from Canada that costed 268$. I’m also pretty sure one of his pieces was missing from the box when I opened him.
Soap?? Honestly Cleaning Levi is one of my favorites!
Of course, I received more nendoroids from my family as Christmas gifts. I’ve been continuing my collection since then and I know have over 30 nendoroids!
But my first six nendoroids will always be special to me. >~<

It’s important to know that June 12 is the anniversary of our nendoroid family itself, not the blog. My blog’s anniversary is in September.
