And thank you so much for tuning in; have fun reading!
Although many of us aren’t able to go to SmileFest 2024 ourselves, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy all the amazing news it brings. The Good Smile company has announced so many sensational figures these past few days; and I just had to write about them!
The First-Class Mage Exam was undoubtedly one of the most interesting arks in Frieren’s anime, and it adds a plethora of new characters. One of which being Ubel, who seems like quite the sinister type at first. I think that Ubel certainly has a very interesting and complex personality, and she’s extremely popular with the fanbase as well. Which is why everyone will be overjoyed to hear that the Good Smile company has announced that she will be getting her very own nendoroid figure! I should mention that we don’t have much information about her yet, but I personally think that she will go up for preorder soon. Lucky for us, the Good Smile shared a picture of her new figure, so we have a good idea of what her nendoroid will look like. In this post, I’m going to share my thoughts, and talk about Ubel; so let’s get started!
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and drawn by Tsukasa Abe, which received its own anime adaptation in the autumn of 2023. The manga is published weekly in Shonen Sunday magazine. Despite being a fairly new story, Frieren is immensely popular both for its bright characters and dramatic plot line. The story follows Frieren, who comes back from a 10 year long adventure with Himmel the hero, Heiter the priest, and Eizen the warrior. Himmel’s party is celebrated for their triumph against the demon king. Although Himmel, Heiter, and Eizen speak of the adventure as though it was their last, Frieren can’t seem to understand them. After all, elves’ lifespans are much longer than most. And so, time goes by. Frieren eventually hears of Himmel’s passing, and decides that from here on out, she’ll strive to understand humans and appreciate her time with them. After she meets an orphan Heiter took in named Fern, and Eizen’s apprentice Stark, Frieren reembarks on the adventure that once ended.
Ubel, a third-class mage who’s quite malevolent in nature.
Wow! Ubel’s nendoroid looks amazing, doesn’t she? I’m a huge fan of her sinister eyes; I think it’s a rather interesting addition to her character. Her first faceplate is her normal, smiling expression. Her staff looks wicked! I honestly can’t wait to create all sorts of scenes with her. I also wanted to mention that the paint job on her hair and everything looks brilliant! I wonder if Ubel will come with the Stille? That’d be so cute.
I’m going to guess what other two faceplates she’ll come with, since most nendoroids come with three of them. I think her second faceplate will have her mouth slightly open, and it will express the thrill she feels during combat. Her next faceplate might be a curious expression. Either way, Ubel is one of those characters who makes the same face throughout most of the show. Let me know what faceplates you think she’ll come with in the comments!
Frieren is such an exciting series with so many iconic characters. I can’t wait to see what figures they’ll put out in the future. I’m personally hoping that Kanne and Lawine will be added to the nendoroid series next!
