The Elusive Samurai, Tokiyuki Hojo Nendoroid Figure Announced for SmileFest 2024!

Hello everyone! Arashi Bori here! I’m so glad you found my blog! I love to talk about upcoming anime figures and merchandise and share photos of my own collection. Nendoroids are my favorite, but I cover a wide variety of anime related subjects. Plus, I have a YouTube channel too, so feel free to check it out sometime! And thank you so much for tuning in; have fun reading!

Although many of us aren’t able to go to SmileFest 2024 ourselves, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy all the amazing news it brings. The Good Smile company has announced so many sensational figures these past few days; and I just had to write about them!

I’ve been reading The Elusive Samurai since it only had three chapters, so I hold the anime in a special place within my heart. It’s truly thrilling to see these characters come to life on our screens. And whether you read the story before watching the anime or not, I think most of us can agree that The Elusive Samurai is one of the best anime this year.

Many of us figure hobbyists are looking forward to seeing Tokiyuki and his loyal retainers as nendoroids. Fortunately, the Good Smile company revealed Tokiyuki Hojo’s nendoroid at SmileFest2024! I can’t wait for him to go up for preorders! So far, Tokiyuki is the only character from this series that was announced, but hopefully Yorishige and Shizuku will eventually receive their own chibi figures. Both of them are vital to the story, so I think it’s fair to assume they might be joining the nendoroid series someday. Anyhow, I should mention that we still have very little information about the new Elusive Samurai figure. We currently do not have a release date, or a date for when his preorders will begin. However, in this post, I’ll be revealing the early model for his nendo, sharing my thoughts, and guessing what parts he may come with. So, let’s get started!

The Elusive Samurai (Nigejouzu no Wakagimi) is a manga series written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui, the creator of Assassination Classroom. It received an anime adaption in July 2024. The story follows a young boy named Tokiyuki, who will be the heir to the Hojo clan. Tokiyuki constantly evades his training, but he’s especially good at running away. Everyone in Kamakura looks up to the warrior known as Takauji, but one day, he betrays the Hojo clan and devastates the city of Kamakura. With no one left but Tokiyuki, he decides it would be best for himself to die as well. But when a priest has predicted that Tokiyuki will rise to be a hero in the future, he manages to reinspire the boy. Tokiyuki’s ability to flee was thought to be a waist, but will it be the driving force to get his revenge?

Tokiyuki Hojo, the young warrior who will one day save the land of Kamakura.

Hojo Tokiyuki even looks thrilled to escape in nendoroid form! The Good Smile company really went all out with the details this time. Tokiyuki includes his sword'; which I imagine will attach to him summarily to how the Demon Slayer’s swords work. The Elusive Samurai is featured in his most iconic outfit. The first faceplate we’re able to see his is smiling expression. Guessing what the other faceplates will be is an enjoyment of mine, so by all means, please tell me which expressions you think he’ll include in the comments section! I think his second face will be his thrilled, blushing expression for when he’s running away. And his third expression will either be his dead serious, devastated face, or his shocked face. As for the other parts and accessories that he’ll include, we currently don’t have any more information, but I really hope he comes with a bow and arrow as well! I bet Tokiyuki will include one of those bent leg parts for action scenes. It would also be great if we could get some special effect for his quick escapes.

Much of this is just speculation, but whatever Tokiyuki Hojo comes with, I’m sure that he will be worth added to our collections. When he was announced the GSC posted about him on their social media, so if any of the other characters get figures revealed, I’ll be sure to write about them as soon as I can. And, when the Elusive Samurai goes up for preorders, I will gladly give him a proper review!

If you haven’t watched The Elusive Samurai, you can catch its episodes weekly on Crunchyroll as they come out on Saturdays. I would absolutely recommend this story to anyone who loves anime.
