Nendoroid Akane Kurokawa Review

Yesterday I wrote a post offering a sneak-peak at Akane’s nendoroid, and last night she officially went up for preorder, so I’ll be covering her once more in this post. so far, the Good Smile company has done a splendid job with the Oshi no Ko nendoroids, and Akane doesn’t disappoint! I can’t wait to delve into this review and share my thoughts on her new figure. With that, let’s get started!

Oshi No Ko is a manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It’s been airing as a TV anime series since spring 2023. The anime can only be watched on HIDIVE however. The story starts with a doctor and his patient who are reincarnated as an idol’s twins. Their mother Ai, hides the fact that she has kids as she continues her work as a star. But in an unexpected series of events, she ends up being murdered. Desperate to live up to their mother’s dreams, Aqua and Ruby take on the industry and attempt avenge their mother. Oshi No Ko seems cute at first, but it focuses on the corruption of the popular industry and expresses rather dark themes.

Akane Kurokawa is an actress with the Lala Lai Theatrical Company. She started in a reality dating show with Aqua, and together they forged a work-based relationship. Akane Kurokawa is a hard worker and a talented actress, but she deals with some serious mental struggles after receiving cruel feedback from her fans. Akane is also a skilled impersonator, and her Ai impression stunned Aqua. She considers Kana a rival, partly for being an actress close to her age, but also because they tend to fight over Aqua’s attention.

Akane’s nendoroid reminds me of her anime appearance; they did a brilliant job with her! I love the contrast between the deep blue and teal in her hair. Her eyes almost look alive; they turned out so pretty. She’s featured in her outfit from ‘We're About to Fall in Love for Real’. I was able to get a look at the key visual used for her figure. In the key visual, she was smiling instead of frowning, and personally I don’t really like how they changed it. But compared to the earlier model, the colors on Akane look so much more vibrant now!

This pose is for when Akane hit her darkest period. You can see a deep gloom within her eyes. It’s worth mentioning that aqua’s eyes also get dimmer when his mind goes dark. I love that Akane comes with her pen and notepad! Constantly throughout watching the show, i thought about how she’s always taking notes. It seems that Akane Kurokawa has a tendency to be meticulous.

Akane gets stars in her eyes when she impersonates Ai. I actually predicted that she’d include a face like this; and I’m so glad she comes with it! Akane’s impersonating skills are top-notch aren’t they? They were even able to catch AI’s spirit with this figure.

Akane also includes a script for her to read from. I think Akane is most powerful when she’s acting. Her acting skills are truly formidable.

She’s quite cute like that…

Combine Nendoroid Akane Kurokawa with Nendoroid Aqua Hoshino to recreating more amazing scenes! I’m sure I’d be a lot of fun to recreate them acting together.

In conclusion to this review, I liked Akane’s new Nendoroids figure a lot. Overall, I think they did An amazing job with her. She came with most of the parts I’d expected. Maybe eventually they’ll release her in her Lala Lai outfit as well. I did like the original idea of having her blushing face smile, but Akane’s nendoroid definitely does her character justice!

I’m so excited for Oshi No Ko’s second season to come out…I can’t wait to find out what will happen to the characters next.
